Default Debt validation

I sent a letter to a collection agency over 9 months ago to validate a debt. I received a letter from an attorney that they would send validation of that debt over 8 months ago. I just heard from them today is this not past the time they are suppose to send me the information. Do I have any recourse?

Were they still reporting to the credit bureaus at this time? It's illegal for them to report to the credit bureaus if they did not verify it in that time...but you will have to have proof that they received your letter and that they were still reporting on it.
