Hi all...need help plz. A CA called and my spouse answered the phone. They proceeded to ask if he was my spouse, and when he said he was, they asked if he knew of my finances. She also said what it was that I owed and the name of the company it was owed to. Am I mistaken, or is this illegal? I would really like to know. The credit card is in my name and my name only and I thought they were not suppose to talk to anyone regarding this information. Any and all answers are greatly appreciated. If by chance it is illegal, whom should I contact. Thanks! |

Yes, it is proper. Under FDCPA 805(d), the term "consumer," as it relates to communications regarding the debt, "includes the consumer's spouse." |
