Default Removing the collection Account from Credit Report

I received a collection letter from a Collection Agency for my apartment lease breakage. I paid them in full in 6months in one full payment. But i didn't talk to them before paying the amount. I just paid them off. I didn't get any removal letter from Collection Agency.

Now the Credit report shows the Collection Account with the Balance of 0$ and PayStatus = "Payment after Charge off/Collection". My credit score has gone down from 750 to 657. How would I remove this collection account from my Report?

Thanks!!

Dispute it with the CRAs that are reporting it.

Thanks for the response. I paid the amount to Collection Agency. now what should i do to remove the collection account from my credit? I thought, the record about my collection will not go away from my credit report for 7 years. how would i dispute with CRA? can i tell them that i paid in full and my collection account needs to be removed? or do i need to get a letter from the collection agency saying that i have paid the debt?

Thanks!!

No, do not tell them that. If you tell them you paid it, it will stay on for 7 years.

Click on the link I sent you and learn how everything works or hire a credit repair company. If you send letters without knowing what you're doing you could damage your credit even further.

Thanks Chane for the response. Can I call OC or CA and request them to delete collection account from the Credit Report? Who should I approach first?

Send a dispute letter to the CRA. Don't contact the OC unless the CRA won't remove it. I would dispute it at least a few times before contacting the OC.
