I have an old unpaid CC bill from BofA, which has been purchased by PMGI LLC (as shown on my credit report) but I get a letter saying it's owned by Newport Capital Group III LLC. Both seem to have the same attorneys, namely Kenosian & Miele. I'm going to try to negotiate pay-for-delete with them. I already sent a letter to that effect. I think it's very odd that my credit report says PMGI LLC while I get a letter from them as representing some other company. Either way I want to try to dispose of this. Any thoughts or insight about these attorneys and their CAs? Any tips? Thanks, I really appreciate this excellent forum. |

I just talked with Julie there and she rejected my offer. She says they have a judgment so it doesn't expire. Any suggestions on what next? I can't pay the full amount. I have a friend who is an attorney who might help. Could he do something to attack the judgment? He would be willing to help. |

I realize this is a very old thread but I thought I would follow up with what's going on. About six months ago, I had an attorney friend of mine call them up and ask if they would like to accept a settlement. He got through to an attorney there who wouldn't budge; they wanted almost the full amount of the judgment. I said "no" to that. I then had my attorney friend call back last week, and he got through to someone different who offered a settlement of about 50%. That was good for me! I took it immediately. I've seen all kind of complaints about PMGI on the web but in this one situation for me they were reasonable, easy to deal with, and it was a win-win. I just checked my credit report and all my collections records are gone. In one case, the collection was valid but I submitted a dispute and they didn't confirm it, so it's gone. I recommend disputing old issues because you have a chance that they will not be confirmed. There's no reason for a collection agency to put effort into maintaining old, closed files and confirming them. My tax liens are satisfied now and I'm also trying to use a Form 12277 to get them withdrawn and deleted. |

Any chance your attorney friend wants to make in another call? Or happen to get the name of who to talk to in their office who is somewhat reasonable? |

Yes sure, I have all the records on that. Send me a PM and I'll get you in contact. However I think there's quite a lot of luck involved, as far as who is looking at your case on that day etc. My attorney will say the same thing: he can't promise anything.
