Default LVNV & Calvary Portfolio Svc

Hello All,

I resecently did a 1-2 punch with LVNV & Cavalry Portfolio Svc (Both CA's). LVNV is collecting for a cell phone bill from atleast 5 years ago if not more. Calvary Portfolio is collecting for MBNA (Bank). I verified that the DV letters were received (CMRRR) before sending a dispute request ( No Knowledge) to the CA's. On June 30th I received my results from Experian with the outcome as "Updated" for both accounts. I never received a response of my DV letter to the CA's at all in over 35+ days. Experian explains "Updated" as A change was made to the item; review this report to view the change. If ownership of the item was disputed, then it was verified as belonging to you" From what I can tell the change is reflected in teh balance owed, which has increade within a month from their data. Also the term states "1 Month" which I know is incorrect b/c I can't and never had a contract with a CA. What should I do next?

Default Cavalry Portfolio Svc and Lvnv

I as well had CA's with both them. LVNV answered my request for verification with- “the account is now closed will be removed from your 3 files.” (they were easy, I knew they had no way to prove it was mine, it was from 2003)
Cavalry Portfolio Svc is one that I had to fight for over a year to finally get somewhere with it! I disputed with the 3 credit bureau's at least once a month with the "no knowledge" online. Sent letters by mail to CRA's trying to see how it is "verified and updated" (they ignored me) I spent more money on sending letters to cavalry (about $8 a letter certified return receipt) than if I would have just paid the $155 collection account from Sprint (who they had no knowledge of acct either!) But it was the point that I knew it wasn’t going to go away- or that it would show a paid collection from 2002 which is worse than not paying it. They would not send a response to any of the verification letters I sent. (at least 14 over the last year!) but they sure sent them "settlement offers" every month which infuriated me even more! I sent numerous letters to the cra's for reporting inaccurate info etc. it was insane. FINALLY- what I had to do is file a report with the attry general where cavalry is located- (cant remember the state, but you can do it online) and then I mailed them all the copies of letters I sent to them and to the CRA's over the course of the past year that went unanswered copies of the certified return receipts showing that cavalry just flat out ignored me. (atty general requested more info)Then finally one day a few months ago I got a letter from Calvary saying the account was closed now and they would remove accts from all cra's within 5 days, also a letter from atty general that said it was closed now. WHEW, took them like 20 days to clear it up! Turning Calvary in is what it took after all that time of being ignored. Cavalry broke so many laws it isn’t funny. So, looking back in hindsight- I should not have wasted all that money and time fighting with them and sending letters out- legally they have 30 days to answer- PROVE its yours then if not needs to be removed. I should have filed with the atty general 10 months ago lol. the cra's were insane too with the "verified and updated" but they refused to answer me how it was verified?? that was very aggravating. Im glad its finally gone tho- it was a huge struggle over $155 lol.

Hey jastokes,

Thanks for the information. I glade to hear the you have had success, even after the long journey (LOL!). I send one DV letter and withount any reponse & I will give them one more shot, maybe, before going the attorney general route. Just like you had mentioned, My accounts goes back to about 2003/2004. As a matter of fact, Cavalry purchased the account from Bank Of America, which the DLA was with BOA is 2005. And BOA is still showing a TL on my credit report and i wonder if that is a violation since they sold the account off to Cavalry? But I will continue to pound away at them and hopefully won't have to spend too much money on Certified Mail.

Okay understood. J can you help me with this other issue:

Okay I am a little stuck at the fork in the road. Here it is:

Okay after a long process here is what happened:

(1) I did a 1-2 Punch by Sending a DV lettter to AFNI (CA) and then disputed a Verizon Account as No knowledge with the CA's. On June 29th, I received a letter from AFNI showing the balance of my last bill of $126.00 from 1/2005. Two days ago, I received a letter from Equifax (dated July 1st) stating that "they verified that the account is being reported correctly. If I have any document that release me from this obligation, please forward a copy to them". Now today I received a letter from AFNI stating the following: "AFNI is investigating your dispute related to the above account and AFNI has informed the credit reporting agencies that the account is disputed. The final resolution of the disputed account has been delayed due to the insufficient information provided. AFNI request additional informaton so that we may conclude the investigatoin. We will complete our investigation within 30 days of receipt of the following information": (1) The specific information being disputed, (2)An explanation of the basis of your dispute, (3)A valid phone number to contct you, (4)All Supporting documentation to substantiate your claim: (ex: Photocopy of your drivers license, proof of residency at the time of service, receipts, etc)

Experian investigation for the same account came back: "Reviewed" The page shows reviewed means the following: "The item was either updated or deleted; Read this report to learn it's outcome. When I turn over to the back page, 2 other accounts that I disputed were listed with the results but nothing shows anything for AFNI on this one.

So I am confused: Did Experian really delete the account? Also it sems as if Equifax verified such information but then days later I receive a letter from the CA stating that they investigstion was never comlpeted. Any suggestions
Any information will be greatly appreciated
