Default medical collections

i have recently reviewed my credit report and found a collection on there i was not aware of so i sent a validation letter to the CA. they responded with a itemized bill from a doctors office from 5 years ago so to be fair i called the dr's office to see if i owed them money. well to make a long story short the dr's office filed the claim on the wrong insurance company and it has been to long ago for my insurance to cover it.they stated that they filed a claim with blue cross and it was denied well i called my insurance company cigna and had them fax me a letter showing i had coverage with them at that time, but the dr's office just says o well if i want it removed i have to pay them $510.i also paid my copay at the time of service.where do i go from here??? any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get a copy of the bill from the doctor and submitted it yourself to the insurance company. Then wait and see if its paid.make sure its paid then dispute it with the cras.

OK that's what i thought .Write a very polite letter to the ca with that information, also send a copy to your doc,Trish knows quite a bit about hipaa laws.I would say that you might have to offer a pfd,but i would point out that your the injured party because of their failure to bill in a timely manner.

Is the time frame over 30 days and has it updated on your credit,If you want to write them a letter and let them know it is inconvenient to call you at any number and at any time all info will be by mail,so i would buy a telephone recorder and a camera with caller id you can start building a case for violations. And if you do talk to them give them no info even to verify the account, because they already have it.If they ask for your SS# just reply that your only do business through the mail and on a company letter head, and the outside has to tell you its from them,if they do that and the outside says from there company its a violation, just be a real pain in the ass.Are tell them what i did *I'm not aloud to talk to strangers on the phone*.Then listen for the huh!:D:D

Was this on a medical debt from another thread that you had posted about? (just getting confused)
If so, can you link us to the thread if we had talked about it before?

Budwizer, you may want to read this...

Medical collections/HIPAA process

Once you get to the "letter to original healthcare provider", you can put in "insert b" stating that insurance was not submitted in a timely manner.
