If it was sold no,if it was transferred no.Once its sold they in theory have no control over it.But as you get further into credit repair you'll find they still have some control over it.If you dispute it they'll produce written proof of your commitment to them is that ok I don't think so but remember they sold a contract that still owed them money. Now if you sold your car/watch/or dvd player you have no rights to it unless they paid with a bad check. So to get them to do anything for you after you stiffed them for a bunch of money, even though you paid the ca.They think you still stiffed them.

I wanted to make this sound better after i reread it.I didn't want you to think i think you stiffed them i was trying to give some thought of how they think. So i apologize if you thought i meant you.

How is the CA reporting it? Can you post it?

Yes, jj's right......the terms: 1 month is a violation. They are making it look like you had monthly payments with them......which is not true.

You should DV the CA.........even though it's a paid acct. Send something really short and simple.

This is honestly my favorite DV letter:

Your Name

Date

Re: Account # 123456787

Dear CA,

I dispute your claims in their entirety and request validation pursuant to the FDCPA.

Sincerely,

Joe Consumer

BUT you can add a little more if you wish....
If you want to state that you've noticed this acct being reported on your CRs inaccurately.....you can and then state that you dispute it.

I just think less is better when talking to a CA. Then if they don't update it/validate it or delete it......you can send a more aggressive letter.

HTH

If you are going to DV the CA, use the address as listed on your CR.
