Default Student Loan / CA ?

I went through my husbands credit reports last night. There is one thing on there from a student loan, said student loan went to a CA and then from there he consolidated the loan through another company and all debts were paid. How do I go about removing the student loan and the CA from his report? Do I just dispute them with the CRA as I would any other TL?

The CA acct is showing a "paid, closed collection account" and the SL is showing a "paid, closed / Current, was a collection" in the Status'

Sorry if this is in the wrong section...

Thanks in advance!

I would try disputing both first. If the SL comes back verified then the best thing to do would be to send them a GW letter........begging them to remove the collection notation.
I can tell you right now the SL will be tough......but be persistent. It can be done.

As for the CA.......did you actually pay them when you got the consolidation loan? If not, then they shouldn't be reporting it at all.

I just realized my title said Student Load, sorry, it's been a long morning filled with two small children...

Nope the CA wasn't paid, the OC was paid. That is what I was wondering, so I'll just go ahead and dispute the CA then, okay that makes sense.

Thanks again for the help!

A little update on this one. I got a call from one of the CA that supposedly holds the loan. I spoke with them for a bit and she told me about a thing that they do where I pay them for nine months and then they give the loan back to sallie mae and it never shows as a derogatory. Does this sound normal/real?

So this tells me that the other CA in question is falsely reporting and I can go ahead and dispute that without worrying

Thumbs up That's good news!

That would be a great deal! See if you can get that in writing and you're golden!

And yes......you can probably dispute the other one and get it deleted.

The CA is Allied Interstate. I called them back today but the woman I spoke with wasn't available and I will only communicate with her so I can ask a few more questions.

They do require a contract in writing so we'll see how it pans out.
