ok...curious what would be the best way to go about this... I have 2 or 3 different accounts that are reporting the same exact information by 2 different companies. Example: Capital one is reporting I owe them $1200 Portfolio has the same account number and says original creditor cap one and is also $1200 If cap one sold the info, dont they legally have to make the account zero and report it as sold or charged off? Also, if i make a deal with portfolio to have them remove it after i pay, does cap one have to remove it as well? or just report it as paid? thanks |

If the CA has purchased the acct from the OC, then the OC (Crap One) should most definitely have it at $0 balance. So that needs to be disputed. To answer your second question.......if you make a deal with Portfolio, they may be able to agree to a PFD but unfortunately they have no control over how the OC reports it. You would have to deal directly with Crap One regarding that. Last edited by Trish; 01-04-2009 at 01:54 AM. |

First Post! I also have the same issue. They add a letter in front of the account number and it comes up as another account. How do I go about disputing this info or should I just send a validation letter? |

| A CA and an OC can both report the same debt........but only ONE of them can report a balance........so if that is the case, I would try disputing with the CRAs first.
