Collection Accounts the same

I just acquired my credit report and found some duplicates on there from a couple of different collection agencies. One is American Credit & Collection, another is OSI Collections. The collection agency is the same. The dollar amounts are the same. The original creditor is the same. The difference - is the account number. What could this mean?

It could mean anything. 79% of all credit reports have errors on them. The credit reporting agencies report inaccurate, erroneous, duplicate information all the time and they don't care. Unfortunately, it's up to us to make sure we correct them.

Dispute all of the accounts with each CRA that is reporting them.
