Question about collection accounts?

Hi everyone....i have a question,i have 2 items on my credit report from collection agencies,i went into default with the original creditors 8 years ago and the collection agencies picked them up in 2004.......my question is that if negative items come off of the credit report after 7 years then shouldnt these 2 items be off of my credit report or does the 7 years start once the collection agency picks them up?.....any info will be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, the collection won't come off until 2011. The OC should already be off.

Have you tried to dispute the collection or get it validated?
