If I am able to get my TL's that show "included in BK" off my reports, how do I go about disputing my BK? What do I say...is what I am asking.

Well, there are numerous ways to do it. I usually don't give a reason. I keep it short and simple. Here's a sample:

Dear Credit Bureau,

Your company has made an error on my credit report and I ask for your immediate assistance in correcting this error. Please remove the following account from my credit report or provide documentation that it belongs on my credit report and that my rights have not been violated.

US Bankruptcy - Docket #8675309

Sincerely,

Thank you for the help. I have almost all of the BK TL's off and the ones that are left are reporting that they were in the BK but they weren't.

How should I go about getting the TL's that are reported as being included in the BK off? Do I just dispute the fact that they were not included in the BK. Get that taken off and then dispute them in general?

Good question, that is a tricky one.

Would the accounts be negative if they were being reported correctly? If so, don't give a reason for the dispute, just ask that they be removed from your credit report.

If they would otherwise be positive, tell them that they were not included in bankruptcy and ask that they be updated to whatever you want them updated as; "paid in full" or whatever.

Either way, you don't want to admit to the bankruptcy if you are going to try to dispute it later. So, you would never want to try to prove to them that they weren't included in the BK by giving them a copy of it or anything like that. But, hopefully that is common sense.

Thanks Chane! BUT I think I may have hung myself a few years ago. About 3 years ago I had got a copy of my reports and saw that some of the tl's that were included in BK were not showing it. (This was before I ever learned about these credit repair forums) So...I sent in a letter stating that they were included in BK. Will that still effect me now? I mean will they say that 3 years ago I verified the BK on my own. LOL If I had only known what I know now!!!

You'd be suprised at how many people do stuff like that. Some credit "experts" actually advise people to do it. I cringe when I read shit like that from "experts". It's a huge mistake.

Yes, I think they keep records of everything you send them and will probably effect your chances, but it's worth a try.

Chane while going through my credit report noticed the cap one accounts were all report on the same date that we filed bk 7, how would they know that unless the law office told them? Now after that they reported on the next month before the creditors meeting as charge. Now I thought it say on my CR closed/paid included in bk.instead it reports as derogatory/then it said account closed because of inactivity. This is really getting screwed up.

Thanks Chane. I will still try to get it done once I get done with the current dispute. I'll let you know what happens with it.

Sincerely,
Hopefully Chane can help me with this, but if not, someone else. I have a Chapter 7 that was discharged in 2001. All of the accounts that were discharged are now off all 3 credit reports. I see that some people have been successful with removing a Chapter 7 from there reports and the sample letter above seems like a good one.

A couple of questions for you: If I send the above letter to all 3 credit agencies, do I have to send a copy of my credit report as well?

How do I send the letter? Regular mail - USPS (with the option where the person who receives it has to sign for it?

Is it true that public records can only be verified in person? The reason I ask this is because back in 2005, I wrote to the court house about my chapter 7 and the woman who I was in contact with, scanned the forms and emailed them to me. But, did she do this because I was the person who was involved with the chapter 7, or can anyone email the court house and have my information emailed to them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
