I had a Tax Lien on my CR with TU, EX, & EQ from 2004 and was paid off in 2006. TU & EX shows being paid but EQ shows still being owed. I did find the Tax Lien is filed thru the county clerk/register of deeds. I sent them a letter asking them their procedure on verifying information which is reported by you to the credit bureaus.
I received from the county clerk/register of deeds stating " Register of Deeds is recording agency only and does not report information to any party. If a particular credit reporting agency has entered a negative item on your credit report then the credit reporting agency accessed our public records to obtain the information."
