Typical story, young with bad credit.

My husband and I are trying to pull ourselves out of a bad financial situation...Well, for the most part, we have. We have been able to make payments on time for close to a year now, and we are seeing our balances drop.



I have a charge off on my account, from 2005 or 2006 I think, and my husband has a paid one from 2006 or 2007.


We have a car that is giving us issues left and right, would like to get something different, as well as finding a different place to live.


So the question. What are the steps we need to take to begin credit repair? Is it worth it to contact professionals? Do I only dispute information on my report that I know is not correct?


Is it reasonable to think I or a professional could get these charge off's removed?

Should I pay my charge off, off? Or does that "reset the clock"?
