Definitely don't ignore it!
Don't mess with the collection agency unless you have to. Pay the people who issued the ticket. If they won't accept the money, you may have to deal with the CA.
Either way I would definitely dispute it with the credit bureaus. If it doesn't come off after a few disputes, you may need to contact the collection agency (last resort) and ask them if they'll remove it if you pay it. Get it in writing...collection agencies are slime.
